Now you've finally made the decision to start your own side business (even though you're still working your regular full-time job). Though it may seem easy in contrast to working a regular full-time job, it's anything but that.
Be prepared for lots of challenges but keep a positive outlook because you can navigate those waters effectively if you follow these five steps.
1). Determine what you want to sell - whether it's launching an e-commerce website or a freelance consultancy. Once you know what you want to do, then make sure there's a market for what you want to sell.
2). Have something interesting and unique to offer. How will you differentiate your business from the competition? Why should someone purchase your product or service over the competition?
3). Get a plan down on paper. It doesn't have to be a formal business plan but you need to have an idea of how you will launch, run, and scale your business.
4). Make your business official by creating a legal entity. Consult with your lawyer to find out the right legal structure for your business.
5). Get your website up and running. With platforms like Shopify.com and Squarespace.com available, it's very simple and affordable to design a professional looking website.
Success doesn't happen overnight. But being consistent with your efforts and having patience will help your business become a success.
